HelmetNation Week 7 Top 25

Well, the weekends’ two best matchups produced the two best games. Nebraska used a 4th quarter explosion to comeback and wash out the Tigers in Missouri and Tim Tebow led the Gators to hard fought victory in Death Valley. Outside of that the weekend didn’t produce much drama.

The coming weekend features a few more Top 25 matchups including an SEC showdown between Alabama and South Carolina and the Red River Rivalry between Texas and a resurgent Oklahoma team once again led by Sam Bradford.

Other games of interest include the battle of the Tech schools when Virginia Tech visits Georgia Tech. For the National polls it is a matchup of Top 25 teams when USC goes to South Bend to take on the Fighting Irish. (HelmetNation reserves the right to call Notre Dame the pretender that we believe they are!) Also, the Cincinnati and South Florida game should be a dandy!

1) Florida – Great game to beat LSU in Death Valley. Tebow shows why he remains the heart and soul of that team. Up next: vs. Arkansas
2) Alabama – Dominated again! Up next: vs. #22 South Carolina

3) Texas – Colorado gave them much more of a game than expected. Up next: vs. #17 Oklahoma
4) TCU – Air Force’s option attack made this a close game. Up next: vs. Colorado State
5) Boise St. – DNP. Up next: @ Tulsa.
6) Virginia Tech – Crushed a solid Boston College team. The Hokies seem to be heating up. Up next: @ #21 Georgia Tech
7) USC – DNP. Barkley and the Trojans will go to Notre Dame and won’t need late game heroics to win! Up next: @ Notre Dame
8) Nebraska – 4th Quarter comeback showed heart and grit. First 3 quarters give them something to work on. Up next: vs. Texas Tech

9) LSU – Played Florida tough and should continue to do well. Up next: vs. Auburn Oct. 24
10) Cincinnati – DNP. Now we find out who is for real as the Bearcats travel to #13 South Florida. Up next: @ #15 South Florida
11) Miami – Rolling FAMU was a well-deserved break after their tough early schedule. Up next: @ UCF.
12) Oregon – Continued to show they might be what we expected at the beginning of the season by beating solid UCLA team. Up next: @ Washington Oct. 24
13) South Florida – DNP. Facing undefeated Cincinnati should reveal something about the Bulls. Up next: vs. #10 Cincinnati
14) Oklahoma State – Closer than expected game with A&M. Still don’t have a good read on the this team and loss of Dez Bryant will hurt. Up next: vs. #25 Missouri
15) Kansas – Another offensive barrage against Iowa State. Their weakness is definitely on defense. Up next: @ Colorado
16) Ohio State – The Big 10 can’t be in the Top 15. Rolled previously undefeated Wisconsin. Up next: @ Purdue
17) Oklahoma – Bradford had a nice return in torching the Bears. Will it be in time to take down Colt McCoy and the Longhorns? Up next: vs. #3 Texas

18) Iowa – The Hawkeyes continue to play to the level of their opponents beating Michigan in a close game. Up next: @ Wisconsin
19) Utah – Needed comeback win against Colorado State. Up next: @ UNLV
20) Brigham Young – Rolled the Rebels of UNLV and could have done it with 3rd stringers. Up next: @ San Diego State
21) Georgia Tech – Out scored Florida State in a back and forth contest. Up next: vs. #5 Virginia Tech
22) South Carolina – Won close game against Kentucky. Up next: @ #2 Alabama
23) Penn State – Eastern Illinois? Really? Up next: vs. Minnesota
24) Houston – Has now beaten two Big 12 South teams and an SEC team but lost ugly to UTEP. What gives? Up next: @ Tulane

25) Missouri – Tough loss at home to Nebraska in downpour. Up next: @ #14 Oklahoma State
